We are looking for a Design Engineer or a Senior Design Engineer at ABB Oy, System Drives division. You will work with our power electronics design group and will be located in Helsinki, Finland.

Design group members are responsible for main circuit and power electronics design in various product development projects. In project organization you have possibility to act as a design engineer or chief engineer, depending on your earlier experience.

This position reports to Design Manager.

Your responsibilities

• Dimensioning and designing the main circuit and power electronics of frequency converters
• Specifying verification tests and analyzing results
• Creating design documentation
• Research of new components and topologies
• Co-operating with subcontractors

Your background

• Sc. or M.Sc. in power electronics or in a related field
• Knowledge and design experience of electrical drives’ main circuit components
• Experience in product development of power electronics
• Experience in simulation and knowledge of circuit simulation software
• Good written and spoken communication skills in English, Finnish is seen as an advantage
• Ideally, you have knowledge of industrial electrical installations, wind turbine drivetrains, medium voltage drives, fuel cells and/or DC grids
• Experience in phenomena related to electromagnetic compliance (EMC) is a benefit
